06 St Chad's Place Description
Located in a converted Victorian warehouse above the King's Cross Thameslink station this sensibly placed new (2004) restaurant without any doubt serves the needs of a travelling population in a far more enterprising and attractive way than the average train station buffet does, even after all these years. Look upon it rather as an airport departures lounge with charm, attractively prepared modern food and cheerful service.
Breakfast is served from 8 am, supper from 6 pm and there is a right-on wine list with some pretty impressive cocktails as well. A full lunchtime service draws well beyond the normal travelling customers, from 12 pm. Think in terms of marinated chargrilled lamb skewers with North African roasted beetroot and carrot salad and rocket, or sourdough bruschetta with chargrilled steak, rocket and fresh horseradish. If you are travelling at the weekend, forget it, they close on Saturdays/Sundays.
