1331 Bar & Restaurant

Nestling halfway down Grape Lane, 1331 arches over the entrance to Norman Court and is part of York's fashionable quarter, which comprises of exclusive shops, independent bars and restaurants. Upstairs they have a contemporary lounge area and a seedy snug; climb a further thirty one steps and you will find their top floor bar.

They offer an imaginative lunch menu, afternoon teas, and gastropub style food in the evenings, while all ingredients are sourced from trusted local suppliers to ensure that they are as fresh as possible. Skewered tiger prawns, and crispy duck, watercress and bean sprout salad feature in the starter section closely followed by a main course of peppered lamb rump, beef tournedos and venison steak marinated in red wine and rosemary.

The Seedy Snug at 1331 is not obviously seedy, but the dark paisley wall covering, black leatherette seating, chandelier lighting and solid wood table give connotations of a 'goodfellas' meeting room, where deals are done and plans hatched.
