Nestling within the Fresh Food Hall at Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly is the chic and elegant 1707 Wine Bar. Named 1707 in honour of the famous store's foundation year, the wine bar allows guests to order a bottle of almost any wine from the adjacent wine department as well as offering an extensive selection of wines by the glass. Accompany your drink with a meal from the modern British menu. Developed by chef Shaun Hill, the menu focuses on foods from the Food Hall to encourage experimentation and adventure. It includes such delectables as Spanish Marcona almonds, Persian pistachio nuts, Kalamata smoked olives and bocquerones, for a start. They can be followed by such dishes as velouté of coco bean and white truffle, native oysters with shallot and red wine vinegar, ballotine of Aylesbury duckling, Toulouse sausage and pork belly cassoulet and Somerset brie with red pepper tart.
