1880 at The Bentley Kempinski

The Bentley is a lavish palazzo that opened at the end of 2003 and is nestled away in the heart of Kensington. 1880, its New York inspired restaurant, created considerable excitement when it was launched, wthin a very short space of time its debut was honoured by a Restaurant Remy Award.

1880 is the date of the original four private homes recently transformed into the fantastically opulent The Bentley Kempinski Hotel in Kensington. It's also the name of the restaurant that is the home of Chef Pier Paolo Saba.

Rather than the usual three course meal, Paolo invites you to sample your way through seven to nine course degustation (tasting) menus including vegetarian options. The penultimate course you pick yourself from one of the best cheeseboards in town.

Then comes the final dessert the best of which is the unique spiced fondants with green Thai curry sorbet. If that wasn't enough, each course is complemented by wines by the glass chosen by the sommelier, making 1880 not just a treat, but an education.

1880 spaciously seats groups of up to forty people and accommodates double that for a reception. Through the bar opposite hides The Gilbert a sumptuous, wine-coloured silk-lined private dining room for groups up to twelve.

The central feature is a sleek wooden table perfectly set with handmade Italian china and silver cutlery. A variety of tempting menus are available, including, of course, one tailor-made for you. Match your dishes with wines from a genuinely extensive and exciting list, comprising of Italian, French and New World wines.
