A newcomer to the haven of attractive eating places which is Bury St Edmunds, and a very good one too. Everything is concentrated on the food, which is not to decry the lovely old beams and the well-cared for furniture. Try twice-baked cheese soufflee with tomato and basil pesto, followed by picata of Suffolk pork with sage mashed potatoes. The fudge petit fours are to die for and coffee as good as any you will find concludes a memorable meal.Modern European

We had a delicious evening dinner, which we found outstandingly good and reasonably priced. We are from London and a similar meal would have cost the earth in the West End. The members of staff were also helpful and delightful; thank you.

A confused mix of ingredients spoilt the basic food underneath the garnishes. The place cannot be described as a restaurant; it is much more like a pub. Avoid weekends to eat there or you may end up with one of the local’s pint resting on your table as you eat.
