22 Mill Street Restaurant
22 Mill Street, Chagford, TQ13 8AW
Nestling in the foothills of the Dartmoor National Park and tucked away in a quiet spot, 22 Mill Street Restaurant is well recommended by both locals as well as visitors. A two AA Rosetted restaurant where the décor is modern but considerable heed of the quintessential British flavour is taken in style provides the ideal setting to stop for a quality meal. Head chef David Jenkins cooks to an interesting menu with a sure touch; the flavours are intense but uncomplicated. First courses might include seared Falmouth bay scallops with caraway caramel, cauliflower and baby herbs and pan roasted breast of wood pigeon, wild mushrooms and hazelnut vinaigrette. To follow expect to see pan-fried fillet of brill, crisp belly pork, braised gem, and smoked bacon.Head chef David Jenkins cooks to an interesting menu with a sure touch; the flavours are intense but uncomplicated. To offer a set dinner menu of this sort of quality from £36 represents more than ordinarily good value, and with lunch from £14.95 an even better bargain. The clever wine list follows the trend with quality house wines from £19.50.

REVIEWS OF 22 Mill Street Restaurant

Have just stopped over at 22 mill street for one night after spending new year in cornwall. I had read a few reviews before booking and on the basis of these my expectations were high. After a brief tour around the perfect little village of Chagford my wife and I were looking forward to some fine food as promised by the reviews we had read. My wife, being vegetarian, has not always had the best of luck while dining out, even at some of the more reputable restaurants in the country. No such problem here. The whole meal, from start to finish, was a delight to our tastebuds and along with a very reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Noir from the wine list we had one of the best restaurant experiences of recent times. The staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was relaxed. After a good nights sleep in one of the two rooms above the restaurant we arose refreshed to a hearty continental breakfast before we took a brisk walk on the frost covered common above Chagford. All in all, a perfect stopover. We will be returning in the near future.

A one night stop over at 22 Mill Street was the highlight of our holiday. It was hard to fault either the room or the menu and it was certainly one of the best meals we have had for a very long time and we loved the little surprises which came along as well. If we were to try hard to suggest improvement it would be to take a look at the starters. As we avoid foie gras it was disappointing to find that not just one but two of the options included it. This somewhat rather limited our choices.
