63 Tay Street Restaurant Description
Situated in the heart of historic Perth adjacent to the River Tay which passes through the town, 63 Tay Street is a light and airy restaurant by day and dons a more sophisticated look in the evening. A change of ownership in 2007 and the Good Food Guide's recommendation have seen this restaurant move into a different league as one among the most sought after places to eat in Scotland.
With a 2 AA Rosette chef at the helm, the cooking displays confidence and care with a strong emphasis on seasonality. The regularly changing menu lists a choice of tian of cured and smoked salmon with celeriac remoulade followed by Carnoustie pork belly with Stornoway black pudding. Sticky toffee pudding is undeniably an all-time favourite and here it comes with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The wine list is an interesting juxtaposition of New World wines with older classics, and small producers with limited output are prominently featured.

This is undoubtedly one of the best fine dining experiences you will encounter in Scotland. The high quality of the cooking, and the use of fresh local produce, is a credit to the head chef Graeme Pallister. The service is efficient and friendly, and the general ambiance is warm and hospitable. What the restaurant lacks by way of design and lay out, is more than made up for by the superb food. I go to a restaurant to appreciate good food, not to stare at the wallpaper. If this standard can be maintained, it surely can’t be too long before the Michelin boys start sniffing around. Graeme Pallister, in my opinion, can stand shoulder to shoulder with Martin Wishart, and thoroughly deserves to do so too.

What can I say! The food was simply delicious, well presented, cooked to perfection and served by a friendly, attentive but discreet waitress. It had a great ambience despite it being a small restaurant. The emphasis was on quality and not quantity. The perfect little extras in between courses, such as the fennel sorbet, the little pots of broth, just added to the whole dining experience. The fillet of beef was simply outstanding. This is fine dining at its best. We will certainly be back. 10/10.
