63 Tay Street Restaurant Description
An elegant building in the centre of Perth overlooking the River Tay houses this light and airy restaurant where a weekly changing menu is offered. Each main remove has its own fixed price, which applies to all items within that course. The cooking displays confidence and care. For a starter try the seared Skye scallops with prawn tortellini and clear tomato broth, before going on to the fillet of Angus beef with choucroute, fondant potatoes and wild mushroom sauce. A chocolate and Drambuie mousse with shortbread maintains the Scottish influence well and the spirit leaves a good aftertaste. Service is very personal with the chef/proprietor's wife well in charge. House wines start at £10.95 or £3.25 per glass and the wine list is well travelled and priced.

We ate at this restaurant during a four night stay in Perth and booked AA recommended places in town on three consecutive nights. This place stood out from the others for their food and the service, so we went back for a second visit on the last night of our stay. They have a very good wine list and a nice location near the river.

We have eaten at the restaurant over the last five years and have come to expect a great evening whilst visiting Perth. We were pleasantly surprised that out favourite Perth restaurant had got so much better. A new chef/owner has taken over since the start of the year and a completely new style has moved the food on to a new level-it was sublime. It now competes easily with the top food that great Edinburgh restaurants can offer. The service was great and the wine list shows great care in selection of what is on it, I think it had grown considerably since our last visit. We look forward to our next visit.
