Aakash Restaurant Description
Housed in what was once a Methodist chapel, Aakash was formerly known as one of the largest Indian restaurant in the world and the sheer grandeur of the building amply exemplifies this fact. The interior of dark wooden tables and leather chairs introduce that modern feel while many of the original features have remained untouched.
There is a broad range of dishes in the repertoire taking in starters of grilled lamb chops, fish tikka and king prawn tandoori and yes, for main courses the sight of the familiar curries prepared the rogan josh, dhansak, bhuna and jalfrezi way is reassuring. The chef's special section is an alluring treat for meat lovers with tender pieces of lamb and chicken on the bone cooked with green chillies, pepper, tomatoes and coriander. For those with a larger appetite there's a value for money buffet menu which emphasises on healthy cooking.
The newly opened Café Aakash offers Starbucks coffee, fruit smoothies, English desserts and paninis.

We booked for 38 bikers in February; the service was fantastic, the food was excellent, the members of staff were outstanding and very pleasant, and it was good value for money. I would recommend anyone to try this place at least once.

Well, what can I say about this place? When my friend suggested a meal in Cleckheaton, I was dubious to say the least, but I have to give it to Aakash. It has to make it to my top ten favourite restaurant list and I do know my food establishments being a chef for 15 years and also a brief stint as a critic. Service was impeccable, from the moment we stepped into the palatial building. The food was impressive; we opted for the buffet, which had a mind boggling variety for our £13.95. It’s definitely value for money. I actually felt bad as I had the distinct feeling there is no way they can be making a profit on this by serving it all for £13.95! I felt we may be robbing them blind, but it didn’t stop my frequent trips up to the lovely all you can eat buffet to top up my plate. Excellent wine list well thought out and the members of staff were strangely very aware of the whole wine list - unheard of for a standard Indian curry house. Nothing about Aakash is standard – it’s grand in stature and grand in experience. Loved it!
