The Abstract Restaurant is a stylish and relaxed venue to enjoy good French cuisine prepared from the finest Scottish ingredients. The entrance facing Castle Street leads to a chic piano bar which features tempting malt whiskeys and an extensive cocktails and wine list. The restaurant is very comfortable with dark wood furniture and snake skin style table tops.

Start with ravioli of cod brandade, chick peas, and curry foam and bacon knuckle and foie gras pressé and apple chutney. Main courses could include confit salmon, smoked puy lentils and beetroot, breast of wild duck, star anis, turnip tart tatin and carrot purée and blue cheese risotto, crispy cauliflower and sprouting broccoli. Desserts appeal with luring creations such as artisanal farmhouse cheeses, celery and grapes, crème brûlee of lemon grass and basmati rice with Brittany shortbread and warm chocolate and hazelnut sponge, hazelnut ice cream and vanilla foam.
