Admiralty Restaurant, The

Located in the heart of Somerset House, one of London most unusual, artistic and cultural landmark venues, The Admiralty is a good choice for a business luncheon or romantic dinner. Large sash windows along the wall allow a flood of sunlight into the two stunning dining areas and the adjoining bar, highlighting the high ceilings and galleon shaped chandeliers.

The young kitchen brigade, led by Steve Gomersall, has introduced a French flair into the menu bringing in the best of traditional and regional dishes with a twist of modernity. So a ballotine of guinea fowl arrives with Armagnac steeped prunes and pistachio dressing, and a terrine of British rabbit with roasted peppers, herb crouton and port sauce. Main courses feature salmon and haddock delice, confit of Barbary duck leg, and beef bourguignon with grilled pancetta and polenta cake; this could be followed by a divine chocolate mousse with toffee milkshake.
