Al-Salam Description

For those who hanker after a Lebanese experience Oxford is the place to be. No less than three, all of them to be taken seriously, with Al-Salam in the lead in the view of many. Perhaps this is because they tend to concentrate on what people really go there for, which is to eat in enjoyable surroundings with not overmuch distraction.

In particular those who favour the vegan or vegetarian paths will find themselves with some forty dishes from which to choose. Lebanese cuisine is still relatively unknown in Britain but I would tip it quite strongly to take more prominence.

Your Reviews of Al-Salam

Joshua (20 August 2005)

Great food, but £14 is enough for only about an appetizer, a main, and one drink. Atmosphere is somewhat canned, meaning not much thought seems to have been put into it. They run a club next door, and when a certain door opens you can hear the music, but not so loudly that you have to shout to be heard. so that's alright, but it's not a romantic night out. All-in-all it's satisfactory, but in every respect Restaurant du Liban is better. Go there instead. Sure, try them both, but you'll probably prefer du Liban.

Just THE BEST Lebanese restaurant in Oxford - and better than any I've been to in London! The food is cleanly cooked - not over seasoned and has a crisp taste.

The service is excellent and there is a comfortable ambience to the place.
