Al Waha

75 Westbourne Grove, London, W2 4UL

This charmingly authentic Lebanese restaurant serves real home style cooking. The various options on the menu are all good value and offer an exciting range of flavours, though you really should start with their renowned mezze (starters/appetizers) including their specially prepared olives imported from around the world, their "light as air" falafel, savoury sambousek, the freshest salads, and their famous hummus, which has been described by various food writers as "a revelation, undeniably rich...silky...and impossible not to indulge". Main courses include a mixture of simple grilled meats and tasty alternatives such as their delectable stuffed chicken or molukieh, a rich stew made with lamb and molukieh leaves, that give it a wonderfully deep green colour.

Their fixed price menus at lunch and dinner represent excellent value, no wonder that the place is so popular. And finally make sure that you don't miss their selection of quality Lebanese wines and traditionally prepared coffees.

REVIEWS OF Al Waha

Frances (25 January 2007)

This restaurant is a jewel. It has never disappointed me. The standard of cooking has remained excellent over the 3 years I have been going there. I think it's the best Lebanese in London. The new decor is also groovy with original calligraphy art on the walls.

Mary Shaw (27 August 2004)

I have never had such good Lebanese food as in Al Waha Restaurant. I know Middle Eastern cuisine well and have spent time in the Middle East. Al Waha surpasses my expectations. What is interesting is that the food is always good and fresh and tastes so interesting. I have been there at different times of the year, for lunches and dinners and have never been disappointed. It is most refreshing to know that in a world where restaurant goers are often side-tracked by the glamour of a restaurant decor and trendiness (where food quality is poor) there are these hidden gems.
