Albion Inn
Park Street, Chester, CH1 1RN
In a world of compromise and fudging how refreshing it is to come across somewhere like the Albion in Park Street, Chester. This is a proper pub where men are men and lager louts are banned. Food is of a similar ilk, so look out for boiled gammon and pea pudding, stuffed roast Cheshire turkey; lambs' liver, bacon and onions in cider gravy; haggis with tatties, and other similar delights. The finer aspects of cuisine are not for discussion there and the word nouvelle would be likely to produce an uncomprehending frown. Mike Mercer has run the Albion Inn for over thirty-seven years and has created and captured the essence of the Great 1914-18 War in this classic Victorian pub. Many a young lad would have spent his King's Shilling there before going to face the horrors of the Western Front. In a world of compromise and fudging how refreshing it is to come across somewhere like the Albion in Park Street, Chester.

REVIEWS OF Albion Inn
Steve B (20 September 2007)
If you want to see what restaurant food was like in the 1950s, then this is probably somewhere you should take a look at. The menu is straight from then-corned beef hash, the best cottage pie going locally and casseroles that have been cooked for about three weeks. Excellent.
Kristin Bradbury (16 January 2006)
The Albion is everything is says on the label. My dog gets its own bowl of water, I get my excellent pint of real ale and everyone gets stuffed full of goodness. Probably not much good for Americans as there are no additives or junk food.
