Alfie's Place Bistro
63 The Shore, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 6RA
Located on The Shore area of Leith, Alfie's Place Bistro is created to cater for budget conscious customers, who'd love to eat local and seasonal, in a comfortable, relaxed setting. The interior is done up in a stylish, bistro like manner with warm tones and plenty of wood, deftly camouflaging the listed status of the building. The food does justice to Chef Tom Haste's talents and his stint under Rick Stein, and the menu offers something new everyday, however, the fish and chips and roast hake and fennel with garlic butter are much-loved exceptions. Although the cooking is typically British it is interesting to note an occasional foray into Asia with mackerel tandoori kebabs with raita, and a charcuterie plate of salami, serrano ham, brisket and chorizo can be enjoyed as a starter.Located on The Shore area of Leith, Alfie's Place Bistro is created to cater for budget conscious customers, who'd love to eat local and seasonal, in a comfortable, relaxed setting. Fish dishes appear to be the main players in the subsequent course with baked hake or lemon sole and line caught sea bass, which is hardly surprising, given Leith's proximity to the sea.

REVIEWS OF Alfie's Place Bistro
Paul Harris (12 November 2009)
I had an excellent meal there and cannot fault it at all. I have to say that the fish served there is perfect and I can't wait till next visit.
Jenny Lewis (29 October 2009)
We stumbled upon Alfies Place whilst perusing the many restaurants in the Leith area and were tempted by the menu. It turned out to be an excellent choice and we ordered from the lunch menu and were bowled over by the quality and flavour of the dishes presented to us. They have quite simply the best fishcake I have ever had, my husband who is himself a chef was impressed by the croque monsieur and the accompanying bread was sublime. The whole experience was faultless and we were only sorry we found this on our last day. As soon as we go back to Edinburgh this will be our first port of call. I would highly recommend it to others.
