Ice cream as a perennial cooler has moved out of the realm of child friendly food into a sphere where adults are equally happy to display their indulgence for this cold treat. Gelato, the Italian version, is slightly different from ice cream because of its fat and air content, making it texturally different, denser and richer. At Alotta Gelato in Silver City, the concept is taking root thanks to the efforts of the owner couple who founded it, bringing the taste of Italian desserts to this hot, desert city.

The list of flavors meanders along interestingly, including variaties such as pumpkin pie, butter pecan, sour cherry, cantaloupe and dulce de leche to name a few. Apart from these, they also have fruit gelatos that are completely devoid of dairy products, and sell other desserts such as cheesecake, key lime bars, soft drinks and beverages.
