Amigos

I went there for the first time last Friday with my girlfriend and was very impressed by the whole dining experience. The menu is extensive and varied, and the food is of a very high standard - would particularly recommend garlic prawns and the aubergine with tomato and cheese. The wine list is fairly limited but the bottle of Rioja we had was delicious and decent value at £15. Six dishes is plenty if you have an average appetite however seven to eight is enough to render anyone immobile for a hour after. One problem is that the tables for two are far too close together and I found myself listening to other people's conversation as they were about three feet away. This is a substantial issue and the next time I'll either go in a group of four or ask to sit on the one table for two that is on its own near the entrance.

Overall, I would highly recommend Amigos, the food is excellent and the members of staff are friendly. It is a little bit more expensive than other local tapas restaurants but well worth the extra money. We had seven dishes with a bottle of red and it came to £55.

The place has recently had new management and I have to say it is a change for the better. It’s clean and looks nice with helpful and wonderful staff. The food is nicer. It also offers an a la carte menu, so there is more choice than before. As a local to the tapas bar, I’m a big fan.
