An Lochan - Glasgow
340 Crow Road, Glasgow, G11 7HT
If you're around Victoria Park in Glasgow and looking for a traditional restaurant, with those slight contemporary touches, and well crafted food then An Lochan might be worth a visit. Although its roots lie in Tighnabruaich in Scotland, the menu doesn't carry a Scottish tag, but you'll find a good balance of dishes with a focus on quality fresh ingredients, particularly seafood and game which is brought in from the Kyles of Bute on a daily basis. The lunchtime à la carte might include Marburry smoked salmon, roast medallions of monkfish and tiger prawns, and warm poached winter fruits with cinnamon shortbread. In the evening the menu expands to include some oriental flavours in a chicken bang bang salad of smoked chicken with cucumber, spring onions and carrot with a spicy peanut dressing and toasted sesame seeds, and poached hake fillet cooked in a Thai style coconut sauce served with fragrant rice.If you're around Victoria Park in Glasgow and looking for a traditional restaurant, with those slight contemporary touches, and well crafted food then An Lochan might be worth a visit. REVIEWS OF An Lochan - Glasgow
Ahab (4 September 2010)
What a find! A great wee restaurant with friendly staff and a menu that is mouthwatering and prepared by someone who obviously cares for the produce on the plate. I have been before but they have changed the wine list since my last visit and the new wines are lovely too. I had a glass of the house chardonnay with my starter and it was spectacular. So I then tried a bottle of a lovely South African red with the main course. It was amazing too. I didn't think this restaurant could get better but it has.
Dinah (29 October 2008)
Although the food was good and we had a pleasant evening, it was no where near the standard we had been expecting. The portions were very small and the prices were bordering on exorbitant. In my view, it was not worth the journey.
