Anatolia Ocakbasi Restaurant Description

On first impressions Anatolya appears to be simply a takeaway kebab shop but regulars know different. There are just a handful of tables, five to be precise, so the atmosphere is hardly that of your average restaurant. However, on the plus side the food is wonderfully cheap and the service fast and friendly. Unless you speak Turkish you'll need the waiter to translate the simple menu of mainly meat dishes that includes skewered chicken and lamb, rich casseroles and spicy fried dishes accompanied by some excellent side dishes.

This is the best Turkish restaurant I have been to. Food is cooked on the traditional wood grill, giving it a fantastic charred flavour - the lamb is juicy and the mackerel, although it looks pretty black, is super tasty and moist. There are dips a-plenty, and sweet, mild chilli peppers are irresistible. Wine is cheap and good, and you can bring your own for a special occasion for a corkage fee. I LOVE IT!!!
