Your Reviews of Anchor Inn at The Seatown

Mandy (22 September 2008)

The Anchor is a lovely pub overlooking the beach at Seatown. There is plenty of seating outside and it is popular on sunny days. We were there on Saturday lunchtime and struggled to find a table outside. Our party ordered a number of meals from the menu. The crab baguette was stuffed with crab meat and three of our party ordered different ploughman’s. The gammon ploughman’s came with three generous slices of gammon, the cheddar with several large chunks and if you can’t decide the ultimate ploughman’s with local Dorset blue vinney, cheddar and gammon. Along with salad and pickled onions, there was also a large chunk of bread, homemade pickle and a very tasty portion of pork pie. We didn’t get the chance to sample the desserts as we were all so full from the main courses. Recommended!

Mr T Speil (11 August 2008)

On Tuesday we visited The Anchor Inn at Seatown for lunch with friends visiting from Norfolk. What an idyllic setting despite the bad weather, we live locally and have enjoyed our visits to the pub for some twenty years with good beer and excellent pub grub. Lunch on that day, however, has changed our view and has probably put us off ever going there again. Bad service, dirty tables, windows and bar top. Our food was served to us on a table, which was not only sticky but our glasses had not been cleared away. The food was awful, a smoky fisherman’s crumble containing two small dog fish or similar cut, undercooked sauce and soggy topping. Frozen fish and chips are unbelievable as the sea is only twenty yards away. A half loaf of bread with a starter of frozen deep fried mushrooms was bad as well. We even experienced difficulties paying our bill as the staff had lost our tab. What an embarrassment.
