Angela Hartnett at The Connaught

Following changes at The Connaught a 'new look' restaurant has emerged. The décor has been given an extensive overhaul, with care taken to retain the best features, including the handsome panelling.

In charge is none other than the Gordon Ramsay protégée, Angela Hartnett, now moving rapidly up the ladder into realms of international prestige and, of course, a Michelin star. Described in some quarters as the new Elizabeth David, Angela combines talent with charm, and a sturdy independence. A child of Aubergine, Petrus, Amaryllis and Verre in Dubai, she has packed an amazing range of experience into a relatively short time.

Be prepared for pea tortelli, braised halibut with herb gnocchi, crab and lemon grass broth, caramelised Moulard duck breast, spiced red cabbage, buttered baby naves and crushed draggers, or roast end of new season lamb with tomato compote, baby fennel and black olive jus.

Menu is faithful to the seasons and the pheasant is legendary. And talking of legends keeps an eye open for the roasted tomato soup, a Hartnett special.

The renowned cellars of The Connaught survived the changes and, if anything, have emerged with even more distinction.
