Ann Purna Description
Anna Purna, which means The Food Provider, is a part of Edinburgh which must somehow always be maintained. As a Gujerati Indian it gives vegetarianism a good name and hardened carnivores are said to have eaten here without ever being conscious of the lack of meat. This is no cosy little nook - well-lit, non-smoking and no-nonsense it produces quality dishes from a quite small menu such as mild kumbi masala, saag paneer and matar reigna. A two course meal will cost you around £10/£11, with house wine at £8.95 and plenty of beers and lagers from which to select the customary liquid refreshment.

We had a truly hospitable evening. My family and I are regulars at Ann Purna and have always loved the food they provide. The Ann Purna thali is a must, you get a selection of everything on one tray and it's absolutley delicious. I go there atleast thrice a month, and always book for family events. There are new owners, but nothing has changed. The food is still great with even better service, and facilities that have brightened up the place. We cannot praise it enough, it is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the UK.

A real find, tucked away out of sight. The food was great and the service was with a smile. And light airy dining. Plus the added bonus that everything on the extensive menu was safe for vegetarians - no scanning through here to see what's suitable! In fact there were quite a lot of dishes that were new to us - we will certainly be back to try out more!
