I booked online for the theatre menu, which was unavailable when I turned up. The mains were really lovely, well presented and very tasty. The desserts sounded appealing, but were very small and overpriced, enough to put me off going again. It was the Friday before Christmas and we were put at a table, where I presume there is not usually a table. The dust was thick on the nearby shelf. I gave all this feedback to the waiter, with no response. It’s a shame that the chef is let down by overpricing and lack of cleanliness. Even so I would return, but give the desserts a miss.

What a disappointment. I visited Arisaig Restaurant for the first time on Saturday. The haggis fritters starter tasted nice but the mains of cod with sun blush tomatoes was the most tasteless and unappetising dish I have had in a restaurant - bland fish with what looked and tasted like a tin of chopped tomatoes over. The service was so quick that from ordering to finishing, or at least eating as much as you could manage given the quality, was one hour. It was more like a fast food experience than fine dining. The members of staff were indifferent and inattentive. On leaving, there was no acknowledgement and the ladies toilets could do with a deep clean.
