If proof was ever required that Liverpool has more to offer in the culinary field these days, then Ark Restaurant provides it, as this trendy, beautifully designed restaurant really breaks the traditional mould.

The menu is thoroughly up to date as well, combining cuisines from around the globe, with starters like salmon and herb fishcakes with balsamic vinaigrette; feta, spinach and red onion filo parcels with spicy tomato coulis; sautéed prawns with ginger and sesame or char grilled chicken wrap with satay sauce for dipping.

More substantial dishes include char grilled salmon with bubble and squeak cakes and sweet chilli jelly; soy, honey and harissa glazed chicken with plantain and jasmine rice; crispy sea bass with pesto and pepper sauce on crushed potatoes or char grilled steak, caramelised garlic and shallot jus and chipped potatoes. There is also a selection of delicious sounding pasta, in either large or small.

While desserts on offer might be: bread and butter pudding; warm chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream or crème brûlée. Their two course menu at £9.95, available every evening, represents excellent value.
