Army & Lou's

Army and Lou's is one of Chicago's hottest spots for Southern soul food, a funky mix of old and new, with African and Haitian artwork on the walls and elegantly dressed waiters strutting out the contrast with ease. It's been close to sixty years since this restaurant started off and Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor was one of their regular patrons. Even today they attract a fair share of celebrities and statesmen. Regular features on TV have made them a household name, but it is their food which provides the best testimony of all.

Choose from appetizers such as honey hot chicken wings or Louisiana gumbo and move on to jumbo scallops, salmon croquettes, catfish fillet or a deluxe seafood platter. Sandwiches and burgers are also good options while you could also try out other specialities such as baby back ribs, chitterlings and smothered chicken, all served with hot corn muffins. Don't skip dessert then you won't miss the delightful bread pudding with lemon sauce.
