Asakusa
265 Eversholt Street, Camden, London, NW1 1BA
Unpretentious, though a little cramped, and real value. If you're trying out Japanese food for the first time, or are fed up with the omnipresent sushi, come to this friendly restaurant. The grilled fish is excellent as are the tempura dishes. A nice change from the usual functional Japanese eateries.Japanese

REVIEWS OF Asakusa
Laura (17 July 2008)
This is easily the best and the most authentic Japanese restaurant in London. After living in Japan I was disappointed to come home and find that no place offered the inexpensive bistro dishes I had enjoyed so much in Japan. Asakusa has a wide range of sake and good wholesome food. The set meals are really good, and there is a great variety of tapas-style mix and match dishes to accompany your drinks. It's usually a little cramped and you have to book ahead to get a table. The food is very good value for money and the staff are very friendly. If you are looking for traditional Japanese homemade food then this is one of the best places in London and has a lot of character.

Asakusa is a real surprise. It has some of the best Japanese food I have ever had and that includes all over the world, and in posh restaurants too. It has humble surroundings in a rather strange place that looks like a fake Tudor pub. It is always filled with Japanese customers and the signs on the walls are all Japanese, which gives you an idea how authentic it is. It is hard to get into, so do book. The food is divine. I salivate just thinking about it.

With quality food, friendly staff, quick service and excellent value for money, Nando's is a great place to eat. Don't expect identikit, pre-fab restaurant interiors which are usually a staple of the larger chains; each restaurant is tailored to its local surroundings and customers, offering up a unique restaurant experience to go with the equally unique taste of legendary, Portuguese, Peri-Peri chicken.
