Asha's Restaurant
Edmund House, 12-22 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3LX
Iconic or legendary, call her what you will, but Asha Bhonsle has proved that she has a sharp business acumen along with that honey coated voice that has wooed millions of fans all over the world. Asha's offers Indian food that has a lot of North West influences with starters such as murg tikka chaat, boneless chicken strips with onions, coriander and green chillies in tangy mint and sweet tamarind chutney served chilled. Barrah kebab, baby lamb chops marinated in ginger-garlic, yoghurt and spices and kebab sultanpuri, minced lamb cutlet stuffed with chopped onions and mint leaves cooked on a griddle, rule the kebab list. The Muscat gosht, boneless lamb cooked in clarified butter in rich, spicy tomato gravy and murg keema, home style minced chicken cooked with coriander and chopped onions, are curries worth considering.Iconic or legendary, call her what you will, but Asha Bhonsle has proved that she has a sharp business acumen along with that honey coated voice that has wooed millions of fans all over the world. REVIEWS OF Asha's Restaurant
Jerry Thomas (14 June 2009)
A seriously fantastic place if you fancy a real curry! This place has a vibe that no other Indian restaurant has. The service was just right and the waiters were extremely polite and very knowledgeable. Save a flight cost to Delhi and walk to Asha's if you miss the real India!

Seriously, are we talking about the same Asha's!I love this place. My husband and I dined there last night and I have to say, when taking into account the awesome half price cocktails, the friendliness of the waiting staff, and the unbelievable quality of the food, I can honestly say I have never eaten at a better Indian restaurant. We shared a kebab platter for starters, and then had a seafood biryani and chicken chettinadu for mains. The meat was so soft it literally melted in the mouth and although I don't think I've eaten so much in my life, we still managed to squeeze in space for an amazing dessert platter. Given the quality of the place, I consider it excellent value for money and can guarantee my husband and I will be there on a weekly basis from now on.
