Ashoka - Shak Livingston
McArthur Glen Retail Park, Livingston, EH54 6QX
The first Ashoka Shak opened in 2001, since then the concept has been developed comprehensively with a lively innovative blueprint, and is the largest and most popular Indian restaurant group in Europe. With fourteen restaurants incorporating the Ashoka chain, Kama Sutra and the Spice of Life, the group has been currying flavour across the central belt of Scotland. For starters you can try haggis pakora, the Scottish delicacy deep fried with gram flour, and tender lamb chops marinated in chef's secret garam masala, then cooked in the tandoor. Main course may consist of spinach puree simmered with lashings of green chilli and garlic with a dash of fresh cream and kick ass chicken kebab, marinated in hot 'n' spice creole style sauce. The first Ashoka Shak opened in 2001, since then the concept has been developed comprehensively with a lively innovative blueprint, and is the largest and most popular Indian restaurant group in Europe. REVIEWS OF Ashoka - Shak Livingston
Laverne (7 June 2010)
I first went to this restaurant in March2010 with my boss and other colleagues, we are from England doing an event at the McArthur Glen Outlet, the staff were very courteous and friendly as was the owner. The food however I have to say was the best Indian food I have ever tasted, and have eaten plenty in my time. The second time I had the opportunity to go was in May 2010 and I was back for yet another event, this time I was project managing the event with my team, I had told them that they have to go the restaurant that I had been to before as I kept going on about it, so I took them after setting up for Saturday’s event. The owner remembered me which I found amazing, we had a table for six people and dare I say it, all our food came at the same time and was hot and delicious just as I remembered, all of my team enjoyed their food and said they were glad we ate there.
The next day I wanted to go back to eat but my team wanted to try elsewhere, so I went along with them which was a big mistake, it took too long and was cold not enjoyable at all, so the next day myself and another one of my team decided to go for the buffet lunch, and sure enough the food was just as spectacular, if it weren't for the fact we had to get back we'd have stayed till the end. I've never had a buffet lunch where the food tasted freshly cooked and meat so tender. Well done, I hope I get to come here again. There's an Ashoka restaurant in Manchester were I'm from but I'm reluctant to try it in case it's not the same. Thank you for a lovely meal, great staff and wonderful friendly service, I'll be back again soon I hope.
