Atrium Description
A well-located restaurant handy for Edinburgh's theatreland and the financial sector of the city. Carefully designed to look like a casual appurtenance of the theatre it has a sophistication which flatters.
The cooking is distinctly seasonal and draws from a number of modern food trends to produce dishes which are well presented and bear that hallmark of good cooking, minimal interference. For a starter you might try white bean soup garnished with confit duck, followed by the fillet of cod with roast artichokes, wild mushrooms and wild garlic leaves.
The chocolate orange tart with crème fraiche is only one of many tempting desserts. Atrium's wine list is well rated, and calculated to rest kindly with one's wallet. House wine at £17 produces a decent alternative.

Your Reviews of Atrium
Laura (30 October 2004)
I ate at the Atrium earlier this week, it's somewhere I wanted to try but hadn't got round to visiting. My company was taking us out and they chose the Atrium.
Surroundings are great - mix of modern and traditional and you don't feel that you are in a large modern building at all.
Food - we ordered from the set menu - 3 choices for each course. I had seared scallops to start; they came with a rocket salad on a small tomato pastry. It was all very tasty and well balanced by the portion was extremely small.
Main course was beautifully cooked lamb, pink in the middle just how I like it. Pudding was a light and orangie chocolate mousse made with Valrhona chocolate. It was perfect.
Wines - I started with the Pinot Gris and followed with a very acceptable Merlot - for some reason they didn't leave the wine on the table - I didn’t like that.
Service - very good but slightly on the stuffy side. They could do with relaxing a bit. Anyway - it was definitely worth the wait to go, it's expensive but perfect for a posh night out.
