Austies Restaurant

Rosses Point, Sligo, N1

Food takes precedence at Austies Restaurant that has a good mixture of seafood and meat dishes. There are salads and vegetarian options as well and the menu is straightforward and happily frill free, as you would expect. This is just the sort of bar and restaurant you want to find beside the sea, an ideal place to spend a leisurely evening.

REVIEWS OF Austies Restaurant

John (17 February 2010)

I was in Austies for the first time this year. I was amazed to see the transformation in the set up, menu and there was also a wine menu available which was not available on my last visit. The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and very efficient to all our needs. We found out the restaurant has recently been taken over in the last couple of months and they are taking the place to a new level. We were four of us dining, my friend and his partner, my wife and me. For starter’s I had the tempura prawns as did my friend’s partner, we both thought they were lovely especially the teriyaki dip which accompanied them. For my main coarse I had the homemade chicken kiev which was not like any other I’ve had before, it was perfectly seasoned and you could tell it was fresh bread crumbs rather than the dried variety you would normally come across, but what topped it off was the homemade chips, which believe it or not was the reason that we decided to go, as a friend had been telling me about them. My wife had the sirloin steak which was cooked the way she asked and she said it was lovely, both my friend and his partner had the sizzling fajitas which as they came out made the whole restaurant stop and stare at the waitress carrying them to the table. For dessert, my friend had the homemade bread and butter pudding which he said was very light and very nice. We also had two bottles of house wine between us. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and for the four of us wining and dining our bill was just over the hundred euro mark, which is very reasonable, as there are places in town two people would pay that much. All in all we had a great experience and will definitely be going back in the near future.
