Avenue Restaurant & Bar

The Avenue is a stunning restaurant and bar in the heart of St. James's in the West End of London. Designed by American architect Rick Mather, the Avenue opened in 1995 to great critical and architectural acclaim. That the Avenue has the 'wow' factor is hard to dispute, its big, bright and buzzy space also makes it ideal for a private party, especially on a Sunday when it is not normally open.

The restaurant is reached by walking through one of the longest and most stylish bars in London. The bar itself is gently under-lit providing a warm glow which leads you through into the dining room. On the left hand side there is a glass wine store which sits alongside a raised area (perfect for bands or guest speakers) and to the right there is a long banquette sitting beneath a long, luminous skylight.

The menu is progressive, Modern European, serving fresh seasonal food, simply prepared and cooked. The seasonal emphasis of the cooking means that the menu changes regularly, although the most popular dishes remain throughout the year.

Avenue shows a clean pair of culinary heels to most of the 'in' restaurants in London by its originality and flair, creating a more interesting experience.
