Don't be put off by the reviews below, Barca has recently re-opened and looks great! I went with my girlfriend for a meal last week and we loved it. No complaints about the food, all was fresh and very tasty. The new décor is very 'glam' as my girlfriend puts it. You can't fault anything about the place, it’s very good.

I celebrated my birthday party there last Saturday. I hired the canal suite, and I don't have any complaints about the room. I have several complaints though about the attitude of the staff at the venue, and the poor way everything was organised. I turned up at 5pm to set up the room only to be told in an extremely arrogant manner that they didn't have a PA system for me. When I asked why they had left it till 5pm on the day to tell me, I got an equally arrogant reply about how they'd been let down. If I had been informed earlier in the day, I would have been able to do my best to obtain one for the band to play. In the end, we had to pay an extremely inflated price for a PA system because of their lack of organisation. They also told me that I would have to pay £200 for the room hire, when the agreed price was £100.

During the party, everything went well; apart from being informed children couldn't stay in the room past 9:30pm. Then I was told by the manager that 10:30pm would be the cut off time. I have no complaints about the buffet food. It was fine, but it was taken away quite early, so when certain guests turned up late, there was no food for them. I asked them to bring it back, and was informed that due to 'health and safety' they were not able to. They did return the food eventually all wrapped up in foil and told me I wouldn't be able to open it for guests that had not eaten. We opened it anyway. The party was the only business Barca had all evening. At one point I saw only six people in the main bar. So for them to be so rude and unhelpful to us was really quite unpleasant considering we were their only customers all night. If you want to organise a party, don't organise it here. I paid a fair amount of money in order for everything to be organised for me on that day, but I may as well have organised it all myself, and saved myself the hassle of battling with the 'manager' all evening. I would have saved myself a lot of money too.
