Barn Restaurant, The

The Barn at Brynich is set in a converted 17th century hay barn and was opened to the public in March 2003. Owned and run by the Jones and Maggs family, it is set around a picturesque courtyard where you can sit out and enjoy panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons.

They serve home cooked, predominantly local, food - whenever possible using organic produce - in a relaxed and family friendly environment. Dishes might include chicken liver and foie gras parfait with pear chutney, pink grapefruit and Melba toast or Charantais melon served with Welsh Black beef bresaola and olives, with mains like A gigot of Brecknockshire lamb, redcurrant and rosemary jus and garlic potato or baked hake with lemon, bay leaf and samphire grass nage. Good, interesting and gutsy fare.

They always offer a choice for vegetarians, such as banana and wild mushroom curry with pineapple rice or roasted vegetable kebabs on tagliatelle with tomato and olive sauce, whilst children are not only welcomed, but are also well catered for with a good selection of dishes at £4.50.
