Built upon successively by medieval monks, Tudor farmers and Georgian gentry, this spellbinding site has grown in interest to its present form as one of the Isle of Wight's top hotels. There is a choice of two dining rooms or take the al fresco option at the Beach Café. A starter of monkfish and prawns Chartreuse encased in aubergines with a tomato coulis could launch your meal successfully, followed by a roast canon of lamb stuffed with sage and black olives. Vegetables are as likely as not grown in the hotel gardens and all the bread and desserts are homemade. A global wine list is clearly popular with house wine at £12.50.
