Centrally located in South Street, Beach and Barnicott is a restaurant that is spread across several antique styled rooms in a welcoming Georgian, Grade II listed building. Carpeted flooring, heavily cushioned sofas, teak furniture and oak beamed ceilings enhance the venue's period charm, inviting patrons to relax in candle lit rooms where the passage of time seems more gracious. You could plan for a quiet intimate dinner or walk in for a relaxed evening meal, dining on modern British cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.

For dinner, soups followed by pigeon breast with black pudding and wild mushrooms is one approach to start whilst Dorset pâté with real ale chutney and  pan fried scallops with pancetta provide alternatives. The mains maintain the unfussiness of dishes with the likes of rump steak, whole black bream with salsa verdi and pork fillet with roasted apples offering guests filling traditional fare. Lunch gets off the ground with dishes such as Welsh rarebit, braised beef in red wine, steak and ale pie and curry of chicken, sweet potato and squash. Desserts of treacle tart, crème brûlée and chocolate sponge pudding keep pace for a satisfying end to the meal. A number of excellent dessert wines and champagnes are on hand as well as freshly made Beliniano coffee, fine teas and hot chocolate.

Beach and Barnicott's vibrant ground floor bar often plays host to regular gigs featuring DJs, bands and comedy nights. Live music every Friday night, courtesy some experimental bands, offers out of the ordinary entertainment.
