Bear & Ragged Staff, The Description

Quite why the restaurant should have a nautical theme to its ceiling is a bit of a mystery - perhaps the landlocked sailors of Oxfordshire come here to feel at home? It matters not, what is important is the wide range of above average pub grub which is to be found here amidst cheerful and atmospheric surroundings. From Cumberland sausages on bubble and squeak with ale and onion gravy to the awesomely named Red Dragon Pie, a vegetarian composition of aduki beans and fresh vegetables topped with a celeriac and sweet potato mash, served with roasted vegetables and a cottage roll, most tastes are served. A New World dominated wine list starts off at £12.50.

A charming old pub with a new, but in keeping, restaurant food menu; service was very good, it is a friendly place that welcomes children. I will return.
