REVIEWS OF Beauchief Restaurant

Mrs M Voyse (9 November 2007)

I was invited to the re-launch of the Beauchief Hotel and Restaurant, last night and was pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully refurbished bar and restaurant, the décor and atmosphere is modern, warm and welcoming, the champagne chilled and the canapés delicious, miniature fish and chips, sausage and mash and cottage pie to name but a few, the Chef is obviously talented and innovative. The function room had also been refurbished and I wouldn't hesitate to book a party there. It was lovely to see an old favourite fully revived, I shall definitely be adding it to my list of favourite places to go and to take friends to.

Mrs. M Walsh (1 August 2005)

We booked a meal for 12 people on Saturday night for a 70th birthday. We have been here for all our special family occasions for the last 24 years. Although the bar service was very friendly and helpful we were a little disappointed. My young son could order anything to eat but it would have been nice to see a child’s menu rather than just be asked 'what would you like?' Also we asked if we could have a sauce with our steak this was provided for us, but why was it not on the menu?

Eight of us ordered soup which on the menu said it came with warm bread, the bread was on the table when we sat down though not warm! We ate that before the soup came, the soup came with no bread when we asked where the warm bread was the waiting staff had no idea it should come with warm bread. They did get us some but it wasn't warm it was from the freezer. The food was lovely. But after the meal we were never offered any coffee and there was no staff to ask for one.

Then as soon as we had paid for the meal we were asked to move into the bar so the table could be set for breakfast! The bar was shut so the barman had to reopen to get us a drink as our mini bus was not coming until 11.30pm. The treatment here used to be so special but not any more. The restaurant was empty apart from 2 more small parties we were told when party bookings are made no other tables are used so we get special treatment! This not only killed any atmosphere but the special treatment was not there either. Bring back Michel!
