Belgo Noord Description

belgo noord camdenThe modern cellar-like interior of Belgo Noord is wildly atmospheric, split into two areas with curved walls and high glass ceilings. Round the walls the names of medieval fish are engraved, with an open plan kitchen, and a variety of the famous Belgo dishes served by waiters in traditional monks' habits.

Affordable, filling meals include their famous mussels, served with a bowl of golden frites and creamy mayonnaise, and other superb seafood, vegetarian or meat dishes, such as rotisserie chicken and Belgian sausages, or platter popei, a creamed spinach sauce with smoked bacon grilled with gruyere cheese, served with frites. If you can find the space you should try one of their scrummy desserts featuring Belgian chocolate, waffles and homemade ice-cream.

The waiters are always willing to guide guests through the vast array of varying Belgian white, dark and fruit beers that are on offer to complement your meal. Belgian food tends to concentrate on leeks, asparagus, potatoes, beetroot, carrots, fennel; onion, celery, thyme, chives, rosemary, turnips, radish, beef, chicken, fish, butter and cream. From this by and large pretty healthy selection by most standards, they produce such classic Belgian dishes as waterzooi and carbonade

Do keep an eye out for their special deals, such as the famous 'Beat the Clock', where you pay the price at the time shown on your food order when ordering from their BTC menu, ie, 6pm is £6. Lunch Express is a set lunch menu for £5.95, Mon - Fri. with rotisserie chicken, demi moules, salmon fillet and cote de boeuf on the menu.

For a pre theatre meal available Mon - Fri from 6 to 7.30pm, at £10, choose any two courses from a great selection of food that will sit well with the show. However I might feel I had to draw the line at a gauffre belgo, which being translated means Brussels Waffle, of which I would have thought most of us have had enough already. Alright guys, just joking, it was delicious, particularly the vanilla ice cream and Belgian chocolate sauce.

They also have 'Kids Eat Free', which entitles two children to eat free from the 'mini menu', a 2-course meal served with frites or mash, that includes such dishes as rotisserie chicken, leek sausages, mussels or cod goujons, rounded off with Belgo's home made ice-cream, per 1 adult ordering a main course from the à la carte menu.

With two seating areas to choose from, firstly their dining area, where reservations can be made, or dine in the more relaxed beer hall area, with bench style seating,  where reservations are not required, this is definitely a unique dining experience. They can also cater for private parties from approximately 50 to 250 guests.

And talking of guests, read on: 'an excellent night! Fantastic food and service, I would recommend Belgo to anyone'.

Your Reviews of Belgo Noord

Bake a Boo (12 November 2007)

Belgo is really good. I went there with my family on my little sister’s birthday, and when we ordered her a slice of cheesecake, they put a candle on it and sung to her. It made her day! The food is fabulous and the staff are really nice, plus their colour sheets keep the kids happy and the teenagers too.

Dionne (17 August 2007)

I Love Belgo's, I especially like the beers (strawberry, passion fruit etc) I tend to go to the one in Clapham, as that is the one closest to my place. I liked it so much, I had been there for lunch and dinner on the same day, how sad is that! The food I would recommend, surf and turf, or the lamb shank, with mash, alternatively any mussels, regardless of the sauce are always delicious. It's a must people!
