REVIEWS OF Bells of Peover
Bernie Ainsworth (10 November 2010)
I had called in without a booking with our sixteen month old granddaughter and what a friendly welcome combined with excellent food! The children’s menu is ideal but freshly cooked - not the usual junk food for kids, and our lamb which we all had, was superb. We will certainly return and recommend, probably to enjoy a more relaxing meal minus children! It was lovely to speak to Chris Buckley, the general manager who actually went to school with one of our sons. Congratulations on running such a desirable establishment, Chris!
John and Sue (20 May 2010)
Meteorogically, it was a lovely evening, warm and pleasant, which is the very best for the 'Bells'. The bell ringers were practicing in the church, which may not have been ideal for the 'Bells', but the ringers must surely improve with time. We dined in the Upstairs restaurant. The service was superb and the staff - extremely friendly. The meal was superb too. Looking at previous reviews, the slow service suited us as we were there for the evening and didn't want to be thrown out too soon. Our only criticism was that it wasn't cheap, so will have to be a ‘special occasions’ venue. Last good point is that there was an extensive list of 'by the glass' wines which was great for the people who had to drive and couldn't drink a full bottle.

The unusual name of 'The Frozen Mop' is reputed to come from a local legend involving a cleaner and a cold winter's night, but apparently there are several versions of the story and the real attribution ...
