Bierodrome - Islington Description
Bierodrome caters for both the diner and the drinker with this bar/restaurant concept from the company that brought us Belgo, both Noord and Centraal.
With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you can enjoy a drink and snacks in the bar area or the outside seating, and relax with an entertaining people-watching view of the hustle and bustle of London life going by right in front of your eyes.
Situated in Upper Street, Islington this branch of Bierodrome incorporates striking and individual interior design with oak furniture to create a stylish and comfortable atmosphere.
Waiters are on hand if needed to help you choose the right beers, making suggestions from the various white, black and fruit beers available, as well as a large selection of wines and other drinks. Bierodrome is one of the largest suppliers of Belgian beers in this country and you can see why when you view the menu, so take your time to look through your drinks menu and don't hesitate to ask the bartender or a waiter for their suggestions and help.
In the kitchens of the restaurant the chefs are at work preparing dishes, such as their famous mussels, and other range of superb seafood, vegetarian or meat dishes, like rotisserie chicken and Belgian sausages. There's a great choice for those with a sweet tooth with their amazing desserts featuring Belgian chocolate, waffles and homemade ice-cream.
The mussels come to table accompanied by a bowl of freshly made crisp golden frites with creamy mayonnaise, which sounds a bit naughty, but more or less unavoidable for anyone with a sense of culinary adventure. Belgium is the land of beer, seafood and the world's finest chocolate and it's here in Islington so take advantage of a combination of German-size portions and French culinary skills.
Do keep an eye out for their special deals, such as the famous 'Beat the Clock', where you pay the price at the time shown on your food order when ordering from their BTC menu, i.e., 6pm is £6. 'Lunch Express' is a set lunch menu for £5.50, Mon - Fri. All meals are served with a choice of Hoegaarden or Amstel lager, house wine or a soft drink.
You choose also between salmon fishcake served with baby spinach and a lime hollandaise, pork and leek sausages grilled and served with Belgian mash and onion jus, moules classique, a large bowl of steamed mussels with shallots, cream, parsley and frites, toasted goat's cheese croutons on roquette salad, a chargrilled beefburger or a grilled 6oz ribeye steak.
The 'Kids Eat Free' deal entitles two children to eat free from the 'mini menu', a 2-course meal served with frites or mash, that includes dishes such as rotisserie chicken, pork and leek sausages, mussels or cod goujons, rounded off with Belgo's homemade ice-cream, per 1 adult ordering a main course from the à la carte menu.
For reservations and party bookings contact them from 12 noon onwards, or visit their Website to learn more about Belgo Restaurants.
Fixed Lunch
- £5.95 (1 course with a choice of Cristal lager, a glass of house wine or a soft drink)

Kizzi (16 April 2006)
I've dined here a total of three times and each time felt that the food was excellent. Fresh and extremely tasty. The service however, is awful. On to occasions I was dining with children in tow and the long wait both to order and for the food to arrive was not met with pleasure. The list of beers is what makes this place worth a visit. And the fries of course!

A group of 12 of us dined at The Bierodrome on Sunday afternoon. We booked a few days in advance and asked for a non-smoking table (we had a mother-to-be and a 2 year old with us) but ended up opposite a table of smokers. The interior was pretty swanky and the long leather benches were comfy. I liked the fact that you could actually watch your food being prepared.
The menu was very limited and only 1 meal was suitable for vegetarians - goat’s cheese on large croutons served with rocket and walnut dressing (i.e. glorified cheese on toast with various leaves found in most gardens, red peppers and a few tiny chopped mushrooms and a drizzle of dressing). The cheese on toast was enjoyable but the peppers and dressing were divine! But I couldn’t really justify the price - £7.95 for cheese on toast?! Drinks seemed expensive too, although the Belgian beer list was extensive.
The service was pretty poor - over 20 minutes for the waiter to return with 1 bottle of wine! As for placing a food order - just make sure you don't go here when you're feeling ravenous!
