Bilash Tandoori, The Description
Wolverhampton has never been rated as one of the nation's gastronomic centres, and barely features in any major Food Guides.
However, the Bilash Tandoori is the one bright star in the Wolverhampton firmament, and it now appears in the Good Food Guide, Harden's UK Guide and other publications, as one of the finest restaurants in the Midlands.
Exactly spiced and tempting Bangladeshi food is produced in the kitchen run by Mr Khan and his two brothers, and served in friendly and helpful fashion by his son Mohammed.
Don't expect the normal fare there, for instance the Tandoori dishes - wonderfully moist examples also - come free of that awful red dye that pollutes them elsewhere, whilst the general standards are vastly higher than in the usual curry house, so wonder that it has gained such a loyal following over its twenty plus years in business.

As a confirmed Indian food snob, and having been generally disappointed by Bangladeshi restaurants I have previously visited, I did not expect much when I walked through the doors of Bilash, but I must say I was delighted by the experience. The food is all freshly cooked, imaginatively prepared, and very well presented in an airy and pleasant dining environment. We were in Wolverhampton in business, and I dined there three times - including at lunch - and was genuinely impressed. There is not much to recommend in Wolverhampton, but Bilash is a jewel.
