Bistro 21 Description

Way out in the sticks, Bistro 21 successfully provides an ambiance and cuisine different from that prevailing in the city centre. It is situated within a cleverly converted farmhouse that offers an intimate and welcoming atmosphere in which fine food seems naturally at home. There's a comfortable bar, a pretty courtyard and three dining rooms with a light and rustic-styled interior emphasized by pitched pine floors, rush seat chairs, and antique lamp shades.

Using local seasonal produce as the base, the cooking at Bistro 21 is straightforward in presentation and bold in flavour. An unfussy à la carte includes the likes of fried squid with crème fraiche and grilled tiger prawns with herb cous cous and harissa dressing in starters whilst hearty mains such as fishcakes, roast monkfish, and rump steak served with fried eggs and hand cut chips feature on it as well. An English summer pudding or a crème brûlée never disappoints those who like to sign off with a dessert.

My wife, myself and two friends dined at Bistro21 on Thursday and I can honestly say that it was a pleasure to be there. The service was excellent, and the food was spectacular. I had never tried scallops so I was a bit unsure about them, but I really enjoyed them. My fillet steak was cooked to perfection, as was my wife's and our friends; and the dessert was to die for. Well done all at Bistro 21, we shall definitely be back again.

In a pre-booked party, I was served last. I turned away the offering as I had pre-booked something else. The same dish was bought back to me by two different waiters – this left me appalled. The service was really bad.
