Bistro, Le Description

This glorious little French bistro has quite a local following due to the authenticity of its cooking and the romantic atmosphere. The staff are all French which adds to the experience and they know their stuff. On the menu you'll find French classics such as steak and frites just as it should be, rich and delicious cassoulets, traditional roast rack of lamb, as well as an excellent choice of seasonal fish dishes. Prices here are another attraction, as two courses will set you back just £10.50, or £11.95 for three courses from Monday through to Friday. There's also a good selection of French wines to compliment the dishes on offer.

My family and I have been going to this lovely restaurant for several years now and are never disappointed. The food is incredible, with classic dishes as well as more inventive dishes, and the members of staff are always very pleasant. The garden, which opens in the summer is wonderful, especially when it’s candle-lit, and the inner part of the restaurant is extremely atmospheric, resembling something you might come across hidden in a street in Paris, with old adverts pasted over the walls in French and English, old metal signs and old number plates. The ambience of the place is just amazing, and I have always found the music level just loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to be heard easily. Sometimes they have a small French band in which serenade tables and the entire restaurant joins in with the party atmosphere. The food is extremely reasonably priced and you will not find better quality in food or service anywhere else, no matter what you pay.

Food was excellent and well presented with friendly service. But the LOUD music was dreadful. For this reason only I won't be going again.
