Black Bo's Restaurant Description

This child-friendly vegetarian restaurant has been around a long time but it has not lost its flair for the fraternity. Located next door to a quite active pool room, if that's not a contradiction in terms, it has a cosy candlelit ambience which greatly assists those who are here as much for the atmosphere as the grub.

Which is not to cast doubts on the cleverly transformed dishes prepared by chef Albert Smith from only the best produce and to recipes which turn even carnivores into doubters - well, for a while anyway. There is a nifty little wine list which includes two organic reds and two whites and house wine at £10.95.

A Malcolm (15 April 2005)

This is a really fantastic restaurant. The fact that it is vegetarian really isn't an issue as the inventive and varied menu is so appealing, it's impossible to decide what to have! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the food is exquisite. Excellent wines, even the house selection is superb and the prices are very attractive too. I've been twice in the last month since I found it and will keep going back. I'm not even a veggie!

Anne-Marie (New Zealand) (9 January 2005)

In my opinion Black Bo's is the best restaurant in the world. It is over 3 years since I was in Edinburgh, and I can't remember what we ordered when we did eat at Black Bo's (hazy memories of oat cakes with a divine walnut pate), but I remember that it was utterly delicious. We loved the ambience, we thought the staff were lovely, and most of all the food left me wanting to return there again and again. If the rest of the city wasn't as lovely as it is, I would still want to move there just to eat at Black Bo's regularly.
