Blubeckers at The Bolney Stage

We visited Bluebeckers at The Bolney Stage for Sunday lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. It is a convenient place to meet our daughter and grandchildren who live in Brighton and we had met there once before and had no problems.

However, on this occasion things did not work out for us. I hasten to add that the manager was super but unfortunately, was let down badly by his staff. After our starters, the main course did not arrive and we had to ask what had happened. Eventually the adults meals came but there was then a delay before the vegetables and the children’s meals arrived, by which time two of the adults meals had cooled and had to be sent back to be reheated. Whilst all this was going on three different groups of diners who came into the restaurant after us had finished their meals and left. The manager did reduce our bill by a third by way of recompense; however, the experience did put a damper on the occasion and spoiled what should have been a special celebration for my wife.

My aged father and I came upon the Bolney Stage as a casual drive-by on Christmas Eve 2007. The ambience of the old world inn was warm and welcoming, as were the staff being met at the door by a jolly santa ringing a bell! Unfortunately the menu was more pub food than restaurant and therefore overpriced, leaving much to be desired. However, the disabled parking spaces were well placed and not abused.
