Blue Room Brasserie

798 Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, Sheffield, S8 0SF

Formerly a Chinese restaurant the Blue Room now avows more European ideas though has certainly left room for a touch of Asian influence. This shows in a variety of ways and adds interest. With careful navigation through the menu there should be no difficulty in building an attractive meal from, say, the straightforward grills and more ambitious dishes such as the five-spice roast breast of duck with egg noodles, pak choi, spring onions, black-bean dressing, sweet chilli sauce and crisp won tons. Service is cheerful and effective and the wine list shares its favours between New and Old World with admirable clarity and equality.

REVIEWS OF Blue Room Brasserie

Sukita (24 April 2009)

A disappointing Thursday evening at the Blue Room, after a visit last year also which left us disappointed, we decided to spend a birthday there after seeing the new website and thought we'd give it another chance. We felt that with wording such as 'Michelin star' chefs and the offer of a 3 course for £15 sounded very appealing so we decided to give it a go. Upon entering, the restaurant did look tired and gloomy, no candles for ambience or twinkling lights they used to have. We asked the waitress why and she said it was down to health and safety, and children who can now eat there. We were given the menu, which was a piece of A4 paper, and a lot of the meals we were looking forward to from the website weren't on, they are obviously struggling as one of the bar staff had to go to KFC for change. The meals were ordered and weren't impressive. The prawn cocktail was basically defrosted prawns with a dollop of Marie Rose sauce, steak and chips were okay but a friend had prawn piri piri with frozen chips and the dessert certainly wasn't a crème brûlée. In one corner of the room there was a stage and DJ equipment set up ready for en event they were hosting which really looked awful. This place has so much potential, it used to be great a few years ago and it’s a shame to see it go down hill if the atmosphere and food were great the right people would come and pay. We appreciate these are hard times but to advertise a Michelin star chef with the food and the place at the moment is a tad daring, it just sets them up for a fall and makes you leave very disappointed. Oh well, we won’t be back I'm afraid unless it can turn things around.

This restaurant was truly amazing on all accounts - it had a great atmosphere, beautiful food, and superb service (not to mention the extensive menu). I would definitely recommend eating here.
