Located on Walnut Road in Torquay, The Blue walnut café and bistro gets its unusual name from the colour of the building, a bright shade of striking blue. Small and quaint, the restaurant is a relaxed, fully licensed café that serves some warm homemade food as well as keeping guests entertained with live music and poetry events that are conducted regularly. With interiors of white, the café has small wooden tables spread throughout the dining area and walls covered with paintings of local artists. There is a separate cinema hall for small groups and also a terrace garden where one can dine al fresco.

With an all-day breakfast and some wholesome lunch, the café serves freshly cooked food including homemade cakes and cookies. Ingredients like meat and bacon are sourced from local markets, with the seafood coming from the local Torquay bay. Even the coffee served is organic and roasted in Cornwall.

The well-stocked bar serves a variety of bottled ales, including stirring brews from Hunter's brewery in Ipplepen which can be enjoyed with the food and refreshments.
