Bodean's BBQ - Westbourne Grove

Bodean's brings the best of American barbeque cuisine to the UK, and has been growing in popularity. Done up in the style of a fifties' eatery with its ribbed oak panel walls, studded leather booth seating, charming chandeliers and stag antler light fittings, the restaurant looks like a scene straight out of an American retro film.

Each of the four outlets has minor variations in décor and theme, but almost none in the menu and service. The Soho outlet for example, has a sporty air with four giant plasma screen televisions playing live and taped sporting events from American sports channels. In Clapham, the bar is well loved and being located very close to the Clapham Common, has a popular take away. The third outlet opened in Fulham and then more recently, a fourth one in Westbourne.

Bodean's Catering Director is Kansas City born Bryan Tyrell - former member of the legendary 'Slaughterhouse Five' BBQ team and two-time winner of the World BBQ Championships. The restaurant has also been nominated twice for the Tio Pepe ITV London Restaurant Awards.

House specialities from the wood-burning smoke-pit oven include baby back, spare or beef ribs or barbeque chicken and combo feasts such as a quarter of chicken served with a portion of baby back ribs and their special pulled pork. Other alternatives on the menu include Jamaican jerk breast, slow smoked beef briskets served in a light barbeque sauce and Gamba shrimps. Their Boston butt sandwich, packed full of slowly smoked cooked pork is served with fries and coleslaw.

All meals are excellent value for money, especially for such superb organic ingredients. The dessert list is short but very sweet with the likes of freshly made sweet potato pie, apple pie and cheesecakes that really hit the spot. The drinks list champagne, red, white and rosé wines in addition to beers and soft drinks.

Bodean's can cater for all sizes of parties subject to the restaurants restrictions in size and peak times. The minimum number to organise a party is eight guests and the venue can be booked out for a fee depending on the day of the week.
