Bombay Bicycle Club Description

Presumably somebody thought the Indian Cavalry Club in Edinburgh had it their own way for too long, but if that is the case they are wide of the mark. The BBC is your ordinary, straightforward curry house with no frills, good food and it bears little or no resemblance to the ICC which for many is in a class of its own.

There is the customary wide range of dishes, though beware of the strength of some of the offerings which are way beyond what true Indian cooking is about. We often do ourselves a disservice in Britain by subscribing to the view that to be good a curry must go through the unfortunate recipient with the strength of an industrial purgative.

Many of the dishes at BBC have the real quality of Indian cooking which is a blending of flavours and spices with sensitivity and it is in that direction that they should concentrate their efforts if they wish to compete with the more successful Asian restaurants in Edinburgh.

Your Reviews of Bombay Bicycle Club

Epicuria (22 October 2008)

I have been eating there for years now, and what stands out for me first and foremost is the freshness of the ingredients used. You only have to have a taste to realise that these curries have not been stewing in their own juice for days. The prices are what you can expect for the quality offered, and the location with a new decor and friendly members of staff. It tops my list of Indian eateries in Edinburgh.

Tero (1 December 2007)

It tells something about a restaurant that it is practically empty on Friday at 9 pm. The food was very intermediate, you'd expect as good from a local take away anytime. Prices are not high but in relation to quality too high. You'll receive the same much cheaper elsewhere. For example samosa had still almost frozen peas in it. The service was not bad but didn't impress either.
