Bon Appetit Restaurant Description

Mark Way holds sway beneath the Royal Temple Yacht Club at this delightful little addition to Ramsgate, a restaurant he took over from his father. Bon Appetit's French's influences are palpable but continental flavours are pronounced as well.

The evening menu is revealed in à la carte form on the blackboard, so expect to find a game quartet with saddle of rabbit, pheasant, partridge and pigeon, or pan-fried chicken livers on black pudding and raspberry dressing. Fish is not overlooked with fillet of wild sea bass and roasted cod steak Provençal with garlic, tomatoes and sage, while the peppered duck breast on sautéed Swede and Madeira sauce takes its rightful place among quality meat dishes.

Mid week specials could include a French onion soup, escargots Provençal or baked petit camembert followed by salmon en croûte or beef bourguignon. The well-constructed drinks list features wines mostly available by the bottle, including champagne.

Eating at Bon Appetit was one of the highlights of our mini-break. Relaxed and friendly with scrumptious seafood, the lobster was superb, and a decent wine list - what's not to like? Just make sure you book in advance at the weekend - we witnessed several disappointed couples being turned away. It's definitely on top of our list when we return to Ramsgate! We have just been down in Ramsgate this weekend and had two wonderful meals there. We arrived on Saturday at about 9.00 and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We had a table outside and they, Simon, etc, were so hospitable and friendly that we felt we were amongst friends. We both had fish and the best tiramisu ever. We finished with a complimentary glass of port which was a lovely touch. We were so impressed with this we came back for the most excellent roast dinner on Sunday sitting out on the patio area again. When we go back we can safely say that we will be going there again. Highly recommended!
