According to the Guinness Book of Records, this is the oldest restaurant in the world. Established in 1725, legend has it that master painter Goya worked in the kitchens as a young man. Always a favourite of the showbiz stars, customers can sample traditional Castilian food at its best, garlic soup for starters and roasted lamb or oven baked piglet cooked to perfection, classic desserts such as sponge cake with meringue and cream patissiere, all accompanied with a great wine offering. The restaurant is housed in a sixteenth century building in old Madrid.
